ABOUT MORGAN MIHOLICH

Bringing Experience to the Bench

THE ROLE OF A JUSTICE OF THE PEACE

A Justice of the Peace is responsible for all Misdemeanor Criminal cases that occur within Pima County; all Felony Criminal Preliminary Hearings which bind defendants over to Pima County Superior Court for Felony Proceedings; and civil litigation including small claims of less than $10,000.

Having worked in Pima County Justice Court as a prosecuting attorney, representing the rights of victims and defendants, I understand the responsibilities and ethics required of a Justice of the Peace.

Being a Justice of the Peace requires compassion, knowledge of the law and a fair and balanced application of the law, it’s not about winning a case but doing the right thing for the right reasons, which is a principle I have built my life around. JPs must oversee cases in a fair, balanced, ethical, and respectful way to ensure integrity and to protect the Constitutional Rights of both defendants and victims. As a JP it is important to evaluate the facts and evidence presented, and render a ruling in accordance with the law, not personal feelings or beliefs.

MY MISSION AS JUSTICE OF THE PEACE

Throughout my career, I have built a reputation for fairness, accessibility, and compassion. As a Justice of the Peace, I will bring those same qualities to the bench and remain dedicated to upholding the law while ensuring justice is served. I have tremendous experience handling sensitive cases, particularly those involving vulnerable victims and grieving families. It is those experiences which have taught me to approach each matter with humility and diligence. I have 20 years of courtroom experience, I hold a law degree from The University of Arizona and I am a practicing attorney. I have a deep understanding of legal procedures, and a commitment to upholding the rights of both defendants and victims to ensure every person feels heard and respected. I believe a Justice of the Peace must be balanced with a deep knowledge of the law and an ability to apply it thoughtfully, my background has prepared me to represent Precinct 6 as Justice of the Peace.
